This is a line. In a 1D-world we have the freedom to move back and forth in the dimension (always in the same direction: the direction of the line). There is no other possible movement. It is similar to an accrobat walking on a wire. He can only move back and forth in the direction of the wire. At this time we can say: "he is walking in a 1D-world".
